Miscellaneous

Public

I decided to include these two shots to highlight one of the major differences between cosplay in the USA and cosplay in Japan. When doing cosplay in Japan in order to avoid having the event frowned on by the public and by the place it is being held in, costumers must arrive in street clothes. They change in rooms provided for them, (which apparently aren't always good for large numbers of people and gear) and then may go directly to the area set aside for costume pictures. In order to wander around the convention, they have to change back into street clothes. There may be some conventions which are more relaxed than others. Here, costumers have the luxury of wandering off to get food in costume if they choose to do so. They will confuse some of the people they meet, but that's generally the limit of it.

Baltimore

BOOM!!!

This was a month or so after the huge train fire in the railroad tunnel under Baltimore. Apparently some of the highly inflammable chemicals leaked from the cars and into the drainage systems under the city. During Friday night manhole covers began to blow several feet into the air with lots of flash-boom along with it. They discovered the chemical was probably leaking into the harbor and put up a net with buoys to contain the spill. These began to bump into the Rainbow Warrior which, ironically, was moored at the harbor at the time.

Cosplay Skits

I didn't have any tapes with me this year, and even if I did I wouldn't have bothered taping the entire set of skits. The pictures would LOOK slightly better at least if I did. I was at the back of the room and trying to keep my hand steady, but it was a long way to zoom.
